New building for the Center of Postgraduate Studies Center of the Universitat de les Illes Balears. Competition 1st PRIZE

The project takes as its starting point the idea of a gentle, Mediterranean style of intervention which appreciates the surrounding exterior space, with zones designated for different activities as well as a wealth of interconnecting fluid spaces fostering mobility and open-mindedness: characteristics of the education offered in a university building.

We attempt to interpret the parameters of the space that existed prior to construction. A natural access to the center is based on existing pathways, so forming part of the normal movement around the campus; walk, relax, understand space and building right from the access.

Regarding the construction itself, we propose a modular building which is light, compact, adaptable, efficient and economic, using light-weight prefabricated construction systems which also allow better on-site control and a substantial reduction in completion time.
