Social housing and a Social Center for the Fishermen’s Association of Cala Rajada

Social housing and a Social Center for the Fishermen’s Association of Cala Rajada

The Project is located in the periphery of Cala Rajada, a village in the north-east of Mallorca. The development consists of two buildings on a single site and a green area between them for shared use.

In the first phase, 15 dwellings were constructed in a compact building with four apartments per floor, set out to maximize the southern orientation of each one, reduce vertical connections as far as possible, and consolidate high humidity zones.

The simplicity of the proposal results from a balance between austerity, due to scarce economic resources, and adequate formal composition, and in the absence of clear local references, opts for the traditional whitewashed look of Mediterranean villages.
