Refurbishment and Extension of a Social Center building at Petra

In the downtown area of Petra on the island of Mallorca, a building originally intended for housing will be adapted and developed as the location of the new Community Centre.
The intervention aims to achieve a balance between the demolished and the new construction, clearing out and rebuilding in an equitable way, recognizing the value of those aspects classified as important.
Historic facades are prioritized and the new intervention adopts a light volumetric character. The proposal preserves the inner courtyard as well as restructuring the existing walls.
The proposal contemplates flexible and airy spaces that allow versatility in their use over time.
