New Pharmacy Faculty of the Barcelona University. Competition 1st PRIZE

The recently approved Urban Plan provides a structured organization of the Campus Sud structured along perpendicular axes and a central space, favouring a model to accommodate the new university buildings in a basic volumetric two-floor base, and tower blocks higher above, creating an urban isotropic space.

The New Faculty will locate the classrooms in the lower areas, focused around several courtyards; above them, the top blocks will contain the laboratory areas, all strictly modulated in anticipation of phased completion during a ten-year period.

Varying the perceptive scales of short and medium distances, and seeking to create a building with a character compatible with the campus (begun the 2nd half of the twentieth century and integrated into the new urban model) have been some of the guidelines followed in the project.
